Full Screen Map The summit is a short ridge, with a grass / whinberry covering. There is plenty of room for HF antennas. The take-off appears to be good but there are surrounding hills that can affect VHF line-of-sight working. This is not a hill that sees regular visits by walkers and you are unlikely to be disturbed. The summit and most of the route up are on Access land. Report 1 SN 7706 8133 - Room for many cars. This is the large open area immediately before the river bridge. Do not park in the pull-in closer to the road junction. From the parking spot walk back to the A44 junction and head east for a 10m or so. You will see the pedestrian bridge over the river, which is the start of the footpath. Cross the bridge and keep straight on over a stile. The path is just about visible on the ground. Continue roughly SE to where you meet a metalled track at SN77638114. Cross the track and go through a gate on the far side and on to Access land. Then follow the fence on your left to the point where a small metal gate (this is probably the footpath gate, as the FP seems to go through the property here). There is an obvious cart / quad track going from this SE up the hill. This track will take you to the summit ridge. However, note that at SN78468051 the track heads N and goes around the hill, whilst the FP continues SE. KEEP ON THE TRACK. Eventually you come to the col between the hill you have traversed and the summit hill. The track appears to go up the traversed hill. At this point go directly S to the S side of the col. Here you will find a less obvious quad track that will take you ENE up to the summit. |
