Report 1
SD 77729 84261 - Room for 4/5 cars under the bridge
From the parking area walk North (down hill) until you reach a cottage at SD 77528 84710, which is start of the PROW, (there is two parking spaces here but they belong to the cottage). Follow the path (wet in places) back up. In effect you are doubling back on yourself but on the other side of the stream. You reach a group of cottages at SD 77580 84262. A note!! there is a driveway from these cottages that leads up to the main road and your parked car and it's a much shorter route but it is private. On my way back I was lucky and spoke to one of the residents and asked permission to use the drive and it was granted. Perhaps something to look forward to on return and save 10/15min. From cottages follow path (very wet in places) as indicated on OS map through the forest and past one of the tunnel air-shafts till you reach a stile SD 77580 84262. Go over stile then turn left and follow fence and occasional faint quad track (very wet underfoot in places) until your reach the summit and trig point. There is plenty of room for antennas and there is also a fence, but if you use the fence you are outside (30m) the activation zone of the trig point. No shelter if WX bad. Weak O2 signal. Car to trig 4km, return 3.4km, Travel time car to trig 75min, return 65min, total ascent 259m. (M0KCB)
