Full Screen Map The summit is the highest point of the Combs Moss plateau and has a large activation zone. There is a substantial stone wind shelter near the trig point which may be used for the activation as it is very seldom you see anybody up here. Good take off all round, but especially to North, through East to South where the land falls away very steeply. Lots of ravens and even harriers up here. Common lizards are common in the summer. There is also my geocache GC2023M for any hunters. Report 1
SK055748 - Room for 3 or 4 cars but take normal precautions e.g. don`t leave valuables in sight.
Not the shortest route, but being a resident of Buxton, it`s the route I use. From the parking place follow the gravel track uphill keeping to the left of the old reservoir. At the end of the reservoir there are two small bridges, one to the left and one ahead of you. Cross the bridge in front of you and follow the obvious track up the hill, which bends to the left before reaching the plateau. Go through the massive hole in the dry stone wall (you won't damage anything) turn right and follow the wall all the way to the summit. It is about 1.5km (60m height gain) but you will be in the AZ after 1km if you`re feeling lazy. |
