Full Screen Map The summit is situated on Access land which is mostly rough pasture with wet areas. There is plenty of room for HF antennas and VHF take-off is good. The nearby forestry is well-visited but Foel Trawsnant appear to be much quieter. Watch out for fast-moving off-road pedal bikes on the forestry tracks if you go that way. This is recommended as these track provide easy walking to within a short distance of the summit. Report 1 SS 8372 9187 - Park on the NNE side of the B4282 in the entrance to the forestry. There are marked parking bays for 10+ cars. From the parking spot away from the road along the track. After c800m a main track crosses the access track. Keep straight on up the hill on a slight left-hand bend. The track then takes a long sweeping right-hand turn. This is quite a steep section. After another 740m a track goes off to the left, but you must keep straight on and slightly downhill. Carry on for another 340m to the bottom of the hill. Here you will see dead ahead a gateway giving access to a rough track going off to the NW, which is a PROW. This track can be very wet at times. Follow this track to the corner of the second forestry block that you come to (gate at SS 8359 9408). You are now on the Access land. Walk just S of E for 400m to the summit. |
