Full Screen Map There is plenty of room at the summit as it is a fairly flat twin-peaked hill. However, it is wet and somewhat boggy in places in winter. You might be better off activating from the side of the forestry track about 150m E of the true summit in wet conditions. VHF take-off is reasonable and should allow successful activating on 2m. The forestry and tracks are managed by NRW and most of the land is therefore Access land. However, there is a section between the summit and the TP that is not, probably indicating that is is leased to NRW. Report 1
SS84538711 - Room for several cars in marked bays in the entrance to the forestry on the E side of the road.
From the parking spot cross the road to the W side and take the forestry track to the W. After 350 metres at the T junction turn right. After a sharp left-hand bend go down the hill and take a right turn where there are gates and anti-motorbike rails. From there continue on the main track and past two points where the track forks. Keep right at each of these. After the last you will start to go up hill. Where the ground levels out (SS 8304 8872) the summit is about 150m to the W. To this point the route is suitable for bicycles. |
